Lately, I have been discovering that I really like Kiss, after all. This after having spentthe last few years proclaiming my hatred for them. Okay, Brian McKinney and Kenny Rice. I was wrong.
Okay. So the above is actually a song from Ace Frehley’s solo album. You know what? I like that, too.
Anyway. I guess it’s okay to do this now. The Kiss wave of nostalgia is dead (I think), so I can’t really be accused of bandwagon jumping. Ace Frehley and Peter Criss are again kicked out of the band. Gene Simmons is featured on his own reality TV show. And Paul Stanley has a solo song being used as the soundtrack for World of Warcraft on South Park:
Yes, I’d have to wager that in the grand scheme of popular culture, the halcyon days of Kiss are forever passed. It seems like the perfect time to rediscover them — there’s nothing like becoming a fan of something that you’ve hated most of your life, but waiting to do it until there’s very little chance of scoring any cool points whatsoever in the process.
I’m going to write more about this later, but right now I have to go do some other things, such as sleep. However, here are a couple of more things I wanted to share, having found them since embracing my inner Star Child. Just because they’re funny:
